Credit Debt Collectors

Beware of Credit Debt Collectors When Applying for Credit

Debt collectors are expected to draw much more earnings from the defaulting credit card holders and other credit customers violating their paying responsibilities in the coming years. There are very few fair reasons for the funds increase with debt collection agencies, but state lawyers are receiving complaints about the collectors' actions. It seems obvious that credit consumers, who became victims of debt collection companies, are upset over the rough and disrespectful actions. But there is another reason of concern that causes changes into legislation. Let's find out what is it.

Let's first determine the reasons for revenues increase in the debt collecting industry. The main reason is mostly connected with the increase of the number of credit card holders displaying their credit insolvency and large outstanding balances. According to statistics US credit consumers accumulate around $3.2 trillion in credit card debt. This gives credit debt collectors high profits.

Besides, it has always been considered that credit debt is the result of carelessness of card holders with bad credit management habit. But while balancing between consumers and credit card issuers, the lawmakers have determined some predatory behavior from the latter.

Apparently, credit card issuers have their legal right to increase low interest rates and fees whenever they need that without any particular reason. If you are late to pay your credit card bill, you are charged the late payment fees, as stated in the fine print. But the most frustrating thing is that they may punish you if you pay on time or even ahead of time!

The credit company is eligible to set new rates on your plastic even if you have a good credit. Creditors are very well aware of all the potential risks of interest rates increase, but they continue self-profiting policy.

This created dissatisfaction of card holders, but, however, it became impossible to change credit companies' strategies.

The much more serious reason of consumers' complaints is the efforts of debt collectors to collect the debts which card holders didn't really make. A recent research has shown a number of complaints against the collecting of the debt, caused by the identity theft.

The legislature establishments are concerned about this situation and are going to introduce a new law under these circumstances. The new law has the goal to restrict collectors' activities, if the consumer reports that he or she is a victim of credit fraud. The collector has to make an investigation of the case and if that turns to be true, the debt collection agency has to stop their activities and to send the appropriate information to credit bureaus.

The effect of a new law is still unpredictable, but there is a reason for concern for legislature establishments - the serious rise of debt collecting industry and consumer debt, caused by the plundering credit companies' policy.
