- Shell Oil and Citi's joint product "Shell Platinum MasterCard" became more beneficial. The business tandem has launched new promotion called "Double Rebate". The program offers 10% rebates on gasoline a customer purchases at Shell gas stations, and 2% rebates on all the rest purchases made with the card within the first 60 days after receiving it. The promotion will last till January, 4th, 2009.
After the promo is over, the "Shell Platinum MasterCard" card's terms will get back to the regular scheme. The card's owners will enjoy using his/her fee free cards during the first year. It can be waived in case a customer makes 9 or more gasoline purchases at Shell gas stations per year. - Virgin America together with Visa have launched a new product - "Absurdly Simple" Visa Signature Card. It enables its users earn triple rewards Elevate points buying Virgin America merchandise. This makes it really easy to accumulate enough points for a free air trip. Customers, who fill out an application by November, 30, 2008 will get a chance to win a free one-way flight ticket as a special bonus.
Once a customer gets approved and starts using his/her airmiles card from Visa and Virgin America, he/she earns Elevate points. 3 points for $1 they spend on Virgin America flights, and on snacks, cocktails and films purchased on the airline's RED in-flight entertainment system. Balance transfers grant bonus points to cardholders. All other purchases will add up 1 point per $1 spent. Consumers will undergo a pre-registration procedure on Virgin America official Web site, or just apply online for this card. Virgin America's loyalty program with no black-out dates, the first of its kind, called Elevate, is beginning on October, 23, 2008.
- New sweepstakes from MasterCard. Using your MasterCard card offers from October, 1, 2008 until November, 30, 2008, signs you up automatically for a lottery. Golf fans are the target audience for this campaign. The grand prize is a trip to the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational. The winner will get a 4-day/3-night trip with free hotel accommodations and airfare for four people, including him/herself. A chance to meet Arnold Palmer in the flesh, that MasterCard gives, is another peasant bonus for golf lovers. Each PayPass transaction increases your chances to win.
